How to clean DaVinci IQ2 Vaporizer?

DaVinci IQ 2 Cleaning Guide

Portable Vaporizers are pretty much universally thought of as a clean way to consume dry herb. After all, you don’t have to deal with combustion, ash, smoke, or any nasty clouds of smoke. Of course, those insisting that you never have to clean a vape should be regarded with the same suspicion as people who say that you can wear a tee shirt three days in a row if you air it out for a few minutes.

The truth is, that over time herb exudes a sticky resin. It does this faster when it is subjected to high temperatures. On top of this, remember what vapor does when it makes contact with a surface; it condenses.

This means that over time you’ll find that your DaVinci IQ2 takes longer to heat up, the draws become more restricted and the resulting hits become increasingly nasty. When all of this happens, it’s time to clean out your IQ2.

Cleaning the DaVinci IQ 2 Vaporizer?

Cleaning the IQ 2 is fairly easy and the more regularly you do it, the easier it is. Here is a quick rundown of all the steps you need to give your DaVinci IQ2 a thorough clean.

Step 1

The first thing you want to do is gather the materials and tools you’ll need to clean out the vital areas of your DaVinci IQ 2. These include:

  • Cleaning solution or isopropyl alcohol
  • A small dish or bowl for soaking
  • Several cotton swabs
  • Paper towel
  • A small, soft bristled brush

Step 2

The Next thing you need to do is disassemble the IQ 2. This might seem like an imposing task, but the DaVinci IQ2 is designed to make this as easy as possible.

Starting from the top of the device, remove the mouthpiece and slip off the silicone seal. Separate these and set them aside. Then, you’ll need to take out the flavour chamber. You can do this with the stirring tool that comes bundled with the IQ 2 or with a small hooked piece of metal. Then used this tool to remove the flavour chamber’s cap. Finally, at the bottom of the device, open the chamber and removed the adjustable pearl

Step 3

Now, take the flavour chamber, its cap, the mouthpiece and the pearl and place them into your shallow dish. Submerge them with alcohol or a cleaning solution. Let them soak until any build up is washed away.

Step 4

Now, you can clean the main body of the device. The first thing you’ll notice is that when you look down into the compartment that holds the flavour chamber there is a large amount of build up around a silicone gasket. This is a well known issue with IQ vaporizers. To clean this residue, take a q-tip and dip it in alcohol or cleaning solution. Use this to wide down every part of the chamber, focusing on the bottom where the gasket is. Then, grab a dry q-tip and wipe away as much of the dissolved grime as possible.

While you have all your cleaning supplies out, turn the vaporizer over and wipe down the oven.

Step 5

Once you have managed all of this, wipe everything dry and reassemble the whole vaporizer. It's essential that you put the device through a cycle to burn off any residual alcohol or cleaning solution.

Cleaning tips

Cleaning is, all things considered, a fairly straight forward. However, here are a few tips that will make any cleaning a lot simpler.

  • Empty the vape’s chamber out after every session, this will ensure that grime doesn’t build up too fast.
  • Check the flavour chamber frequently. This is in many ways the air path of your vape, it sees a lot of use.
  • Use the soft bristled brush to frequently break up any build up, this will stop any stubborn grime from building up.
  • The exterior of the device can be maintained with a soft, dry cloth.

Last words

The DaVinci IQ 2 isn’t the easiest vaporizer in the world to clean, that’s true. However, with a bit of preparation and a little patience,  it’s extremely easy to wipe down and clean out. Maintaining your vaporizer is a must if you want to get the very most out of the device, and of the herb you put into it!
