Since the Crafty vaporizer came out in 2014 before the Crafty Plus Vape in 2019, so many new vaporizers have hit the market, and many people are wondering if the cult-favorite Crafty vaporizer is still relevant in this world of advanced new vaporizers.
So in this review, we will be looking at the Crafty through our ‘2019 eyes’, and we will go over all the newest features of the Crafty vape unit so you can get a good idea of what the Crafty is all about and why so many people still love it.

Vapor Quality
The vapor quality that the Crafty produces is one of the main reasons it is so popular to this day. The vapor is smooth and full of taste, so it really is everything you would want from a vaporizer. To be fair, some people do comment that the vapor could be cooler, so if you prefer very cool vapor, then you might want to use the Crafty with a water tool to get that super cool vapor.
There is a special accessory that you can use with the Crafty which is the loading magazine which is complete with 8 dosing capsules/pads, and an additional set pack of 40 capsules. These allow you to switch between strains throughout your session, and they even allow you to easily change between liquids (concentrates) and dry herb. You can get a clean new hit each time, and that keeps the taste amazing.
Heating Methods
Storz and Bickel wanted to give the public a dynamic vaping experience with the Crafty, so not only did they make it compatible with both concentrates and dry herb, but they also designed it to have both convection and conduction heating -- a truly unique feature at the time of its debut.
This hybrid heating uses both hot air and the hot surface to heat up the entire chamber and get the most out of the product you’re vaping. This works great when you’re using the dosing capsules or just herb on its own. In short, super-efficient and well designed -- love it.

Design
Storz and Bickel is a German company, and though cliches are not to be relied on, we just can’t help but agree that all the German design cliches are head-on when it comes to the design of the Crafty.
The unit is well planned out, it’s complete with all the best technology when it comes to heating and cooling methods, and the loading method is one-of-a-kind (which we can’t get enough of!). Not to mention that the overall look and outer design of the Crafty is super cool and unique -- reminiscent of its older brother the Mighty vaporizer.
It’s also made from super durable materials, with an outer hard plastic shell, and resistant design, so it’s not only built to look cool, but also to really last you a long time, and we love that -- especially since we can all be a bit clumsy at times.
Application / Temperature Settings
The Crafty vaporizer comes with Bluetooth technology so you can connect to the Crafty application on your phone. The app is quite easy to use, and it’s pretty intuitive which is great for everyone and anyone. The app is made so that you can control the temperature settings on the Crafty vaporizer.
To explain more in-depth, the Crafty comes with 2 pre-set temperatures (180C and 195C) but you can change these temperatures on the app to practically any temperature that suits you and add 4 more temperatures!
This is a great feature because many people prefer to vape their dry herbs on a lower temperature to get the best flavor, and their concentrate at a higher temperature to get all the goodies from them -- well, this allows you to easily do that.
Charging
The Crafty is charged via a USB cable and it’s A/C adapter. Once your battery runs out, all you need to do it plug it in for around 120 minutes (approx. 2 hours) and you’ll be up and running as if nothing happened.
It is fair to say that the fact that the charging time is double that of the actual battery life can be a bit of a hassle, and many of us would prefer it to be a lot shorter. But when you start vaping your unit and you get to experience the powerful battery, it seems more worth it for sure.
Cleaning
Thanks to the design of the Crafty, and the extra tool that pops out of the bottom of the unit, cleaning it is super easy. In fact, it is so easy to clean that you can easily get into the essential habit of cleaning your vape after each use.
All you need to do is unload the unit, grab your cleaning kit (brush, cleaning pick and maybe a cotton swab with some isopropyl alcohol) start by scraping the big pieces of debris, then finely cleaning it with the brush and finishing everything off with your cotton swab for that extra clean result.

Warranty
The new warranty for the Crafty unit is 2 years. So if you experience any problems with your unit, you can easily contact us within your 2-year warranty, and you can rest assured that you will be well taken care of.
Who Is It For / Not For?
The Crafty is easy to use and intuitive, so in terms of ease of use this unit is for everyone. This unit is also easy to transport and to conceal, but in terms of size it could be a bit smaller, therefore if you’re looking for a small unit along the lines of a vape pen, the Crafty might not be the unit you want.
Additionally, the Crafty has a unique design, but it’s not for everyone -- some people prefer to vape in style, and the Crafty doesn’t always come off as ‘fashionable’. But it is god to consider just how durable it is. So this aspect is entirely up to you to decide!
Tips And Tricks
One of the biggest tips we can give you about using the Crafty is to invest in the dosing magazine and a pack of dosing capsules. They allow you to load your unit in a matter of seconds which is perfect for vaping in public, and they simply make your life that much easier.
Another great way to make your vaping experience easier is to use the Filling Aid. This accessory is designed to be used as a grinder, and to load your ground herb directly into the unit, doing away with the messy method of grinding your herb and transferring it to your vape unit. All you need to do is attach the Filling Aid to your chamber and sweep the herb into it.
It’s that simple! Our last master trick is this: keep your unit clean! By routinely cleaning your unit you will ensure amazing tasting vapor every time, you will avoid your unit getting plugged up with resin and debris, and you can make your unit’s life so much longer by taking care of it!
